The St. Joseph County Airport Authority’s Department of Public Safety will be participating in live fire training exercises on the mornings of Wednesday, May 9, and Thursday, May 10, between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.

This annual training is mandated by Federal Regulations 14 CFP Part 139 for all firefighters engaged in Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF). Firefighters will be required to make an interior fire attack with a hand line, an exterior fire attack with a hand line, and an exterior attack using roof and bumper turrets from inside the ARFF vehicle.

The training will be conducted at the William T. Schmidt Training Facility located on the northwest corner of the airport.
